From January 1, 2007, the Traceability
of the foodstuffs will be obligatory
forexports towards the European
Union. This action will result in
the need for labelling pallets and
logistic units. It is within this
framework that GS1 Tunisia struggled
since 2005, in order to sensitize
the economic actors about the importance
of the standards and traceability
solutions. This sensitizing results
in the seminars, workshops and thematic
sessions organized by GS1 Tunisia
throughout the year with the collaboration
of the CEPEX, PACKTEC and the CCI

GS1 Tunisia : The traceability is a requirement |
- Exporters of the agroalimentary products from the 01/01/2007 (in accordance with EC 178/2002 rule), the traceability of your goods is obligatory to enter the European market.
- To ensure the traceability of the products is a priority to respect the legal constraints and the pressure of the distributors.
- If you do not carry out the labelling of your goods (pallet, paperboard, parcel) according to international standards, it is extremely likely to be rejected by your European customer.
- Then contact GS1 Tunisia for the implementation of solutions of traceability.
- Request GS1 Tunisia for councils in order to conclude your project of “Traceability”
- For the exporters which are not still prepared for this expiry, GS1 Tunisia places at their disposal a Web tool to generate online pallets labels while they set up their own traceability solutions.

| A Web tool to generate logistic labels
respecting GS1 standards |
Following the European harmonization
of the logistic labels, GS1 Tunisia
developed a Web tool
to enable you to generate the models
of your logistic labels. After having
specified the characteristics of your
forwarding units (homogeneous/heterogeneous,
standard/not standard…), you
mention the criteria which you want
to see appearing on the label (N°
of batch, DLC, DLUO…), then
a logistic model of label complying
with GS1 standards is proposed to
you with a summary of the selected
criteria.. ...More

| The traceability in France |

The
sector of deep-frozen and ice adopt
EAN.UCC standards |
|
With 2 million 200.000 tons of
products commercialized per annum
and a turnover of 8 billion 200
million euros, the sector of deep-frozen
approved an official format to mark
the elementary logistic units, using
UCC/EAN-128 symbology. Actors of
this sector: manufacturers, traders,
distributors, logisticians thus
met with GS1 France to inform about
their needs, in term of electronic
data interchanges, through messages
covering main information flows,
and integrating specificities of
deep-frozen and ice for the marking
of forwarding units, in the handbook
Logistic Applications of EAN standards
to facilitate the reception of goods
and their traceability. This format
contains the identification of the
logistic unit, the batch number,
the deadline (optimal use) and the
net weight in the case of articles
with variable weight. Source Les Enjeux - Fabienne

was adopted by the whole of GS1
organizations in order to identify
large consumption products in store
(from 2010). Smaller than an EAN-13
