GS1 Tunisia, connecting companies:
The fact that EAN international and UCC merged together has led to the
setting-up of one single entity: GS1. This new name enhances a collective
willing aiming at having one system and one single language of commerce.
All EAN organizations around the world were brought together under this
common denomination. Starting from April 27th, 2006, the Tunisian Company
of Coding "La Société Tunisienne de Codification (TUNICODE
EAN Tunisie)", as a member organization of GS1, will officially become
GS1 Tunisia. A new name, a new logo but actually, there is always the
same willing to satisfy members' needs in terms of standards. It aims
at being a real proficiency center.
For the multinational companies either they are big, medium, small or very small forming a group of subscribers and users of GS1 Tunisias' tools and services, this new name brings a concrete reality: there is no more need to have a special barcode to export towards North America. It is also a unique traceability solution for the whole world: UCC/EAN-128. In addition to that, it is a single network for synchronizing items data: GDSN. For the future, a single radiofrequency label: EPCglobal. Actually, a global organisation, locally existing. A global language speaking all local commerce languages: The GS1.
Beyond the limits:
Companies must act on an international scale by going beyond traditional
cleavages: local versus global, specialist versus generalist, supplier
versus distributor, small companies versus big groupes. The future belongs
to companies taking root in the economic tissue and in new technologies.
A challenge for the 2400 tunisian companies using GS1, the only system
of standards to trade in the world. By becoming GS1 Tunisia, and in order
to link companies, our company has moved from the barcode to a whole complete
system of information and communication technologies. Nevertheless, its
mission remains the same: decrease of costs within the supply chain, a
concrete platform of cooperation linking companies and making reachable
the different technologies.
Over one million companies around the world have discovered or will discover the new visual identity of GS1. This strange round and blue logo has a strong symbolic. Each element of the logo has its own significance. "GS" as Global System, Global Standard, Global Solution, Global Service. This acronym shows the presence of a global system of standards. This system is universal, unique and worldwide-recognized by industrial and trade companies... That is why we have the idea symbolized in the number 1. The blue globe illustrates the presence and the international range of EAN.UCC standards. Finally, the waves illustrate communication technologies.
GS1 Tunisia : a continuity of GS1:
Thanks to the new global data synchroisation network (GDSN) and GS1 world
register, GS1 is in the vanguard when dealing with the domain of world
data synchronisation. GS1 has developped the next generation of products
identification through the electronic product code (EPC). It has also
created, for its members all over the world, a homogeneous integration
system dealing with the supply chain.
Actually, over 100 nations belong to the GS1 organisation, consequently
facilitating state-of-the-art and traditional electronic commerce processes
within the numerous sectors of industry and trade.
As a member organisatin of GS1 International, GS1 Tunisia
embodies Tunisia within development and maintains items identification,
world standards, locations and communication linked to electronic commerce
according to EAN standards. it is the global language of business.
Taking the opportunity of the General Assembly, the tunisian organism,
strengthened by its 2400 member companies, declared its official name
change. Thus, it gave its instructions for the years 2006-2007 : reinforcing
the use of barcodes, EDI/XML exchanges, developing the carry out of radiofrequency
labels (EPC), traceability solutions and implementing the 1st e-com plateform
in Tunisia: Tunicommerce.
